Plumbers, Electricians and Builders: Let AI Take the Quote Request While You’re on the Job

You are on a ladder, or under a sink, or halfway through a DB board. The phone rings. You let it ring.

By the time you call back, the customer has found someone else. Not a better plumber. Just a quicker one.

Where AI assistants come in

More people now ask an AI assistant to sort things out for them: “Find a plumber in Durban who can come tomorrow morning.” The assistant goes looking for a business it can actually contact.

If your website has a quote form the assistant can understand, it can fill it in for the customer, with the right details. If it cannot understand the form, it moves on.

What we set up

We take the quote or contact form you already have and label it clearly for AI assistants. In plain terms, we tell them:

  • what the form is for (“request a quote for plumbing work”),
  • which areas you cover,
  • what each box means (“suburb where the job is”, “what is broken”, “when it needs fixing”).

The request lands in your inbox or on WhatsApp, the same as any other. You decide whether the AI may send it straight through, or whether the customer has to press send themselves.

Why the labels matter

“Message” tells an assistant nothing. “Describe the problem, for example a burst pipe or a geyser that won’t heat” tells it exactly what to ask your customer. Better labels mean better requests, which means fewer calls back just to ask “and where are you?”

What it does not do

It does not quote for you. It does not promise a time slot you have not offered. It takes the request properly, so you can quote when you climb down off the ladder.

Will it work on my website?

If your website has a contact or quote form, almost certainly. If your website was built years ago and nobody remembers the password, also probably. We have all been there. For the technical detail, your web person can read the WebMCP business briefing on our sister site.

The next step

See the Get Enquiries package, then ask for a free website check. We will tell you what an AI assistant sees on your site today and what we would switch on.
