Guesthouses and B&Bs: When the Guest’s AI Assistant Does the Booking

“Find me a guesthouse in the Karoo for two nights next weekend, with secure parking and a dog-friendly room.”

That is a lot of conditions. A person would open six tabs, phone two places and give up on the dog. An AI assistant will try to do it all at once, and it will favour the guesthouse whose website it can actually understand.

Why this matters for a small guesthouse

The big booking sites already talk to AI assistants in their own way. Your website is where you keep the commission and the direct relationship with your guest. If an assistant cannot work out your rooms, rules and availability there, it sends the guest to a listing site instead, or to someone else.

What an assistant needs from your website

  • Your rooms, described clearly. How many people, which beds, which rooms take pets or have parking.
  • Real availability, not “contact us for dates”.
  • A booking or enquiry it can fill in, with arrival date, nights, guests and any special requests.
  • Your rules in words, not only in a PDF: check-in times, deposits, cancellations.

What we switch on

We connect the website you already have so AI assistants can check your availability and send a proper booking request or enquiry. You decide whether bookings go straight through or wait for you to confirm. Most owners start with enquiries and move to direct bookings once they trust it.

International guests

Many guests write in their own language, and their assistants handle the translation. Where things go wrong is in the details: dates written the other way round, or prices read in the wrong currency. Our sister site has a useful piece on how multilingual websites and AI agents get along, and what to set up so nothing gets lost.

What could go wrong?

A fair worry. An assistant could misread a date, or a guest could change their mind. That is why you set the rules and why the guest confirms. We wrote more about this in what happens if AI says something wrong to a customer.

The next step

Ask for a free website check. We will look at your site the way a guest’s AI assistant does and tell you what it can and cannot book today. And yes, we will check the dog question.
